There is a huge difference between saying that the Notes client is far more powerful than the browser, at least for Notes/Domino apps, and saying that there should be a Linux client. I am not at all sure that would make sense. I simply object to the blase assumption that it is so easy to do this stuff in the browser. OK, here a question for you. You are writing in a browser in a reasonably mature discussion database that is used extensively by developers. Can you add a graphic in place in this discussion? Can you add a table? Can you create a hotspot that works for both the client and the browser? Can you even add italics that don't show up as HTML code? No. Yet, in the simplest discussion forum Lotus had in R3, you could create all of that for the client, and in R4.5 you could do all those things in the client and they would show up (basically) properly for the web. So, if it is so easy, why is it that all the Notes based discussions let you do it, and the web based ones generally don't (and the few that do are almost exclusively web only)? Might it be because it costs nothing extra to add those to a Notes client discussion, but is relatively difficult to add to a browser discussion, and even more difficult to make it work for both browser and client (something I am working on, by the way, in an upcoming version of Midas)?
